Fancy Meeting You Here by Julie Tieu

4.0

This is my third time reading a Julie Tieu novel and I can confidently say that I'm still hooked with the way Julie writes romcom featuring Asian-American voices.

Fancy meeting you Here is an adult romance novel featuring a wedding planner (Elise Ngo, also a florist) who is focused on giving her set of bestfriends their dream wedding. And during one of her bff's wedding, she met Ben Yu (caterer/chef) who happens to be the younger brother of Rebecca Yu, one of Elise's bestfriends.

From their messy first encounter bloomed an unexpectes connection that will mess the threads in their personal and professional life.

What I liked most about this story is Elise Ngo's character development because it was developed in a way that ot felt realistic especially with the way Elise managed to keep her personal and work problems to himself in order to not have her family and friends affected - this is how most of modern adults work and I'm not mad at them one bit because it's a show of compassion since every one of us is burdened in our daily lives (if that makes sense)

The romance was a bit on and off which is not my favorite but the reason why it kept on happening is also realistic so I consider it now a problem.

For me, I was expecting a bit more discussion about Elise and Ben's adult problems in the last part since it's a critical theme to the majority of the storyline but it was a decent conclusion to be honest.
