To Sir Phillip, With Love by Julia Quinn
4.0
This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I freely admit that I only started reading these books after watching the Netflix series. I don't usually read historical/regency romances. I wasn't even planning to watch the show, to begin with. Now I am an avid fan. Eloise is my favourite character from the TV show. She is a little different from the book version and I think I prefer the TV version if I am honest.
Eloise Bridgerton is now a spinster. She has turned down many offers of marriage because they would not make her happy and she wanted a love match just like her parents and her siblings. Now after seeing her best friend Penelope marry her brother Colin she decides to run off in the middle of the night and visit her pen friend Sir Phillip Crane.
If you have watched the TV show then you have met Sir Crane however for those book readers you will not have. I liked Sir Phillip but he was very grumpy and just needed to get out of his own head. He was so worried about being like his father he ended up being someone he didn't like either. I loved seeing Eloise bring him out of himself and teach him to loosen up a bit.
The poor Crane twins were two little children you just wanted to love up. They were clearly starved for attention from their parents and I was so glad to see them learn the right behaviours.
This was a great addition to the series but whilst I thought it would be my favourite I was a tad disappointed with how ordinary Eloise's life turned out from the character she is in the TV show.
