The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

4.0

I’m not sure if I’m rating this 4 or 5 stars, so I guess I’m rating it 4.5. But only because I’m trying to only give 5 stars to books that like… shake my world apart or something and that I definitely would re-read. It’s not that I wouldn’t re-read this because it was very good… but it didn’t make me cry, so I guess it’s 4.5 stars.

Still, the writing is incredibly well done, accurate, and varied. And yes, I’m talking about GRAMMAR and sentence structure. Both were very very good. Characters are incredibly well developed and multi-dimensional. I love that the story spans like 20 years (or so?) but it’s so immersive. You don’t feel the passing of time as it passes throughout the book, it just happens and flows as you savor the story. There was literally not one dull moment for me. I regret that I didn’t read it faster.

I also regret that I sped through the end a bit because I really wanted to finish the book and find out what happened!! It’s not that I wanted to book to end, I just couldn’t wait to see the outcome. I sped through the last 2 chapters or so.

The outcome was satisfying… this was a very good read. I’m very glad I picked this up AND I’m glad I read a physical copy rather than a kindle copy. I dunno, something about holding this one in my hands enhanced the experience for me. Nice job, Madeline Miller!
