If I could give a book a standing ovation, I would. Incredible, luscious and utterly delightful! This book drew me in from the moment I started, and didn't let me go. Even after I finished it. The tension, romance, emotion and setting were incredible. Giovanna created magic with The Taste Of Light.
✔️ 1872 Portugal

✔️ Age Gap
✔️ Forbidden Love
✔️ Forced Proximity
I will give this warning right now, this is book two of a series. I did not know that going into it, and while yes this can absolutely be read as a standalone, I have been told it is better to read book one first. For a better overall view of the MMC Pedro.
𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐨'𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤. 𝐇𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞.
Pedro is a rough, jaded man. I enjoy morally grey characters, and I think he fits in this category. I am excited to read book one to see him as the "villian" of the story. As much as he is tough and untouchable, Pedro is an incredibly romantic character, talk about swoon-worthy. He finds an immediate attraction to the beautiful Anne, but will Anne prove to mean more then her beauty?
Anne comes off as being the complete opposite of Pedro, young and naive to the harshness of the world. She dreams of finding her ideal gentleman, who would seem to be everything that Pedro is not. But following her along the journey to find strength she didnt know she was capable of was absolutely delightful.
"𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐝. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬."
We get a lot of action throughout the story. For myself, I enjoyed the pacing of both the action, romance and spicy scenes. I got from this book, everything I want from a historical fiction and more. I also loved that it was set in Portugal. Everything felt so well researched, right down to details while riding. This was such a fun and emotional story, I wish I could turn back to page one and experience it again.
