I’ve finally read this one, and I’m kicking myself a bit for not picking it up sooner. The Fifth Season is a simply compelling read - the intense and yet accessible world building, the utterly fascinating characters, the afro-futurist and sociopolitical themes, the jolting plot developments - I loved every part of this book. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next - at no point did it feel like a slog or feel too dense with unnecessary details or convoluted context (much like many other fantasy or sci-fi books can feel). Can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes!
