Volume 2 continues very much like the anime series (though I'm sad that the anime wasn't continued beyond episode 26). Readers learn more about Hatsuharu and Momiji (and a smidge more about Shigure) and get to meet one of the most insane characters (after Kagura) in the series, Ayame.

This series always makes me smile, and I really need to revisit the anime... even the stressful final few episodes that make me cry. Ah, Takaya-san, your work is wonderful and I treasure each reading of Fruits Basket.
