Curses & Kitsune by C.J. Ravenna
3.0
I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Ahhhh the OTT melodrama and histrionics were strong in this one, and while it had all the wild and awesome action and dynamic energy i generally love in Ravenna's love stories, i was sort of disappointed with how much this book leaned into the soap opera vibe that Book 1 didn't really have!
I wasn't a fan of Jinta. He swore up and down in Book 1 that he was Raiden's ride or die, even if it took the Yakuza boss time to get the violence sorted so he could be free and clear to bounce. But Book 2 was...not that, and i was pretty over it by 30%. And Raiden who i really loved, was a great murdery boss no doubt, but then he would devolve into Eeyore over his fated mate 2 sentences later and i just wasn't feeling it.
I still loved Ravenna's suuuuperrrrr steamy melt your kindle levels of heat, and her fantastical, monster-filled world of shifters in love and war! and Tokyo (and OFC katsudon - shout out to YOI which owns my whole heart) always has a special place in my heart!!!
So yessss i really loved THIS vibe, and i enjoyed this duet for the most part, and i honestly can't wait for whatever CJ has in store for us next, because i'm sure it will be all kinds of ferocious and very very awesome!
