I have slowly been chipping away at T. Kingfisher's backlist this year and have developed a bit of a crush on her cozy approach to fantasy and horror. So I was extra excited with Tor sent an ARC for me to fawn over and devour. Thornhedge was everything I hoped for and more!

This fairytale retelling flies by, take us from the land of fae to the human world. The amount of care that goes into creating the world in Thornhedge and characters is astounding. Especially since it is such a short read (coming it at around 114 pages). Unfortunately, this also means its impossible to really discuss the story without getting all spoilery. Broad strokes: Toadling needs all the cozy hugs, changelings are terrifying, and I love a knight that isn't good at... knighting.

I'm going to reread via audio as soon as I can get my grubby little paws on a copy.
