Took me many years to actually read this but once I picked it up, I did not put it down. I knew much of how the plot would unfurl due to having seen the film in parts when I was young, but I really appreciated actually being inside Celie's head while reading the novel. I loved seeing the world through her eyes. I did find myself skimming through Nettie's letters from Africa, though. I was just more taken with Celie's POV.
