Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

5.0

This book has the ingredients for a fun, feel-good story (see what I did there?). For every woman who has worked in a misogynistic workplace under sexist male bosses, this book is for you! I was initially put off by the cover (it makes it look like a 'fluffy' rom-com) but I appreciate the fortitude and resolve that Garmus gave Elizabeth Zott. I wish I was as bold in real life. It is heartwarming without being too sappy, has enough humor without being over the top, and gives the reader satisfaction that justice was served. I even liked the unconventional dog's point of view - I was a little dubious at first but found that it didn't detract for me, but added another fun layer (and I really believe dogs are smarter than we give them credit for...... ). I can see myself reading this again when I need a boost of positivity and inspiration.
