A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet
Did not finish book.
I don't think there is any excuse for a book to show us an abusive relationship if not for educational purpuses.
Here we have a magical powerful girl, living on the run for about 8 years, that is kidnapped by a warlord, tied, tossed and dragged around for a month before being taken to his kingdom to be his personal soothsayer. And she falls in love with him in the first days of captive. Come on !
I kept reading because I thought she would snap out of it, and when she had the chance to escape, she did not. When her friends had the chance to point it out, they did not. The least one can do is to point it out , right?
The world building was interesting and I wish I could see more of it, but made my decision and quit this halfway through - I have never done this before, but it felt right.
Such a disservice for women...
