Book Lovers by Emily Henry
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
3.0
Book Lovers is sold as an enemies-to-lovers story, but as with most contemporary romances, the "enemies" part is heavily exaggerated. In reality, it's primarily a book about the relationship between the Stephens sisters, with a minor subplot of romance.
Honestly, if you asked me to describe the love interest, I’d be at a loss. He has dark hair, thick eyebrows, and constantly pouts... and that’s pretty much it. It's hard to connect with a romance when the male character is so vague.
That said, the ending did manage to redeem the book for me. Even though I tend to be a bit of a hater when it comes to overly sentimental stuff, I couldn’t help but be touched. I suppose that speaks to Emily Henry's writing skills.
