Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

5.0

THIS BOOK.
If you want a cute, exciting book with fantastic writing, please read Fangirl. It's so great!
I absolutely loved all of the characters, which is a really high compliment from me, as I'm most critical about characters. Both Cath & Levi were relatable & surprisingly reminiscent of people that are actually in my life.
One of the other fantastic things that the author did, since I apparently can't give her enough praise, was adding such detail and hardships into Cath's life. Her parents were super important with her character development, & I loved that. YA fiction can pretend parents don't have much influence on their teenagers, but I liked that this book told the truth- family is important to most people, regardless of whether they show it. Along those lines, Wren was an amazing character. Rainbow just has a gift with characters & character interactions.
I also loved Cath's fanfiction that we got to read. I'm super glad Rainbow decided to write out Simon & Baz scenes so that we could really get a feel for Cath's writing & her love of these characters.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book (hence the 5-star rating) & would definitely recommend it!
Also, small disclaimer that this book swears if you don't like that
