Ok, so this book had a seriously badass beginning. I liked the assertive MC (main character) who was prepared to roll with the punches and was super aware of her surroundings and hell-bent on fulfilling her ambitions:

She has a conversation with the crowning prince and he tells her that she is cold and she bites back unflinchingly:

Life in the palace made me cold, but I made that choice on my own. His gaze is stormy. “So proud of being heartless.” “I know the consequences of being who I am. Do you?”

It is a good book, that I would recommend.

However, there has to be mentioned that towards the end things got a bit sour for me. I did not appreciate the objectification of her love interest
