The Icepick Surgeon: Murder, Fraud, Sabotage, Piracy, and Other Dastardly Deeds Perpetuated in the Name of Science by Sam Kean

I thought the wide majority of the stories told within this book were super interesting and well-written. I appreciated how Kean led one story into the next chronologically, which really helped me place the stories in time, and I think each piece was given the respect and research it deserved. I think if I had read this book at a different time it could have easily been four stars.

The biggest reason for my low rating is no fault of this title, but that I also happened to be reading Rogues: True Stories of Grifters, Killers, Rebels and Crooks by Patrick Radden Keefe, investigative journalist god, at the same time. It has a similar short-story composition that dives into various bad or unique people, but Rogues is frankly far superior (although they cover slightly different topics). Because of that, I've forgotten lots of the tales this book covers and would probably just recommend Rogues in lieu of it.

Also, dude, half star off for continuously plugging your website and podcast in almost every section. Quit that shit.
