The Darkest Surrender by Gena Showalter
4.0
I want to rate this book 5 stars so bad. I love the main characters individually, them together, the side character arcs (this book actually probably does this the best), and I even like the general plot of this one (though it is not my favorite plot-line of the series, tbh).
So why can’t I rate this 5 stars? I really don’t know. There’s just something about this one that just does not reel me in. I’ve reread it a few times and it’s almost like reading it for the first time each time, because I never remember what happened. (Though we readers would love to read our first books over for the first time, it just doesn’t work here for me).
But one thing I love about this novel, which I’ve already mentioned, is the side character arcs. Oh, how wonderful, exciting, and horrible they are. Even now rereading the series, I get this huge bunch of anticipation in my stomach, almost as if I have to wait all those months and years again to see these arcs resolved. It’s a great feeling to have. If you’ve not read this series, you need yo ASAP. Just make sure you start from the beginning.
