Minor Detail by Adania Shibli
4.0
Incredibly haunting read with a most unsettling ending, Minor Detail paints a raw, important image of the Palestinian experience and history within a very small book (less than 150 pages in length!). At moments, the matter-of-fact voice of our narrator may read a bit meandering and the story pacing uneventful, but it all hints at the daily, typical dangers faced by Palestinians—maybe much doesn’t happen in terms of plot but the psychological turmoil is ever pervasive and powerful. I found the novella provided a very critical perspective and is a good starting point for those interested in understanding Palestinian history.
