" to think a monster could hate so passionately could love so profoundly shook my very existence. "
A mysteriously forbidden haunting romance that dwells on magic, and strange folklore, with the obscurity of haunting tales. It is a beautifully written story in a whimsical poetic way of showcasing a paranormal romantic aspect of love with regard to a dark, tense atmosphere.
" Everything I'd known I questioned, and everything I was, I was no more. It was her, always, Every time. "
This story's magnetic pull will captivate your attention with a concept of a mythical town, its atypical set of characters, and its hidden magic. A phenomenal way how everything was crafted with all the unfolding aspects that it has throughout the book.
“ She was everything I wasn’t, yet looked at me—to me—as if we were stitched by the same string. ”
The relationship between the characters Fallon and Julian was both hauntingly heartbreaking but also beautifully comforting despite the hardships, loss, and pain that they experienced. I love how their relationship blossomed through everything that happened and how they helped, protected, and cared for one another along the way.
Fallon as a character is someone who is the odd one out, the one who always didn't belong due to the peculiar traits that she has. Julian has the same characteristics as Fallon due to the curse with the hollow heathens. Julian was the black sheep in town because of the history of his family and his coven. Both their characters are alike in how they saw each other in themselves and that's one of the reasons why they both caught each other's attention in the first place.
Overall, this was a very poetic haunting love story.
