Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey
3.0
A very touching and thoughtful book on how rest and allowing oneself to listen to their own body counters a culture that fixates on labor and sacrifice. However, everything that needs to be said was written within the introduction, and everything afterward felt extremely repetitive.
I did enjoy the author’s anecdotes and wish there was more focus on that. I can’t really say much more than that. This would’ve been much more impactful if it was just the opening with some anecdotes left in. I know it would’ve shortened it to the length of a blog post. but with how rough the editing was, it really felt out of sorts in a book as opposed to an article you’d find online.
I think if you want the most out of this book, read the opening and maybe the first chapter before setting it down.
