Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy

informative mysterious tense

"We stomped through the world and crumpled things where we walked, too human, not creature enough."

I really enjoyed this one. First of all the setting was beautiful! The description of the nature was so vivid and atmospheric it felt like I was really standing in the Scottish forest, watching a wolf pack.
Inti's condition was very interesting. (If I would touch your shoulder the person with Mirror-Touch Synesthesia would experience the same sensation of the touch on their own skin.)
Because of the condition Aggie was always very protective of Inti. But now Inti is the one looking after her twin sister Aggie and later in the book we learn why. The sisters have a very special bond and it breaks my heart to see what they went through!
All characters had depth and I understand why they acted the way they did. I felt Inti's frustration, the farmer's anger and towns folk's worry about their safety.
But after reading a few reviews I also totally understand why some people didn't enjoy the story and characters as much as I did.
