A good series should feel like a journey, with the final book delivering you to your destination.

There were moments in this book and in this series where it felt slow. And it was. A slow journey.  But to get to where we ended up, we had to take all those single steps. Dawsyn is a force. From the first introduction to her in the first book, you know she is not one to trifled with. She is the easiest person to get close to and if I met her in person, I’m sure we would butt heads. Oh her journey though, from the Ledge, to Mecca, to the Chasm, and back again. It was never easy and she lost many a loved one along the way, but she always strove for the greater good of her people, even when they rejected her to her face (some even attempting to kill her). The character growth and the fortitude she possesses is admirable.

This feels like a series I will read again and again. Knowing the end sometimes makes it easier to appreciate the journey. I know I will think of the characters often and with fondness and imagine the stories that took place after the end of this book. Read this series. Enjoy the journey. Appreciate the slower moments. The ending is one I appreciated for the simplicity and the heart.
