Essentially, the book is a character study around our narrator's Ego death. It's repetitive and crude, I almost felt like I was "watching" someone fall apart in a way that I shouldn't have been there. There's some good writing and it does emphasize how depression affects everyone around you, but it could have been done in a way that was more interesting and novel. It's definitely an uncomfortable read, though not necessarily a bad one.
Graphic: Death, Drug abuse, Drug use, Eating disorder, Mental illness, Rape, Vomit, Abortion, and Death of parent
Moderate: Racial slurs and Gaslighting
