Wretched by Emily McIntire

4.0

After scarred wasn't sure what to expect. Happily it feels more like Hooked. Scarred doesn't even like it belong or this author wrote it.

Wretched gives a nod to Wizard of Oz BUT it is an original story. Best part is the villian is a female

Evelina is the daughter of a drug lord. She was out conducting business when she has a fabulous one night stand ( more like 15 minutes) Nick is out on the town for one last reprieve before going undercover again.

Imagine the surprise or horror when he gets an in with her father and she shows up. They try to deny the sexual tenison between them, plus he needs to keep his identity as a thief while she tries to keep him from knowing the family business.

Dorothy is the daughter who appears to the innocence one in the family business but she is cold hearted. When her secrets come out Evelina is beyond angry and plans to make her pay for them.

Along the way there is some violence, some sex, but it doesn't overshadow the plot of the story which is who is betraying whom, who is not whom they see and who will still be standing in the end.

spoiler

I kept hoping would turn up and I didn't want a HEA, I wanted evelina to pay for her crimes and Nick be fired for his role in all of this.
