Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

The greatest travesty about reading Daisy Jones & The Six is knowing I’ll never get to listen to the voice of Daisy Jones belting out the songs in this book with the emotion and raw talent that Taylor Jenkins Reid writes about so brilliantly.

I was hooked from the first page on this one, the writing style and structure of the novel being vastly different from anything I’ve read of late.

There are a lot of characters to keep up with in this journalistic/interview style narration of the making and breaking of possibly the worlds greatest rock act, Daisy Jones and The Six. The way the characters are brought to life and have their own unique perspectives on the same events really makes it easy to keep up with the truths and half truths painted in the story.

I think anyone reading this can see where the story is going from the very beginning, but that’s what makes it so darn good and believable. Somehow Taylor Jenkins Reid has created a fictional piece of work that feels like the inside scoop of a band that you already know the story of, and you can’t wait to find out that little bit more with each page.

A solid five stars.
