Spare by Prince Harry

emotional reflective sad fast-paced

4.5

An amazing insight into a public life and the realities it comes with. I wasn’t expecting it to be as tragic as it was. It was interesting to compare what I knew about Harry from my memory of the public discourse around him, and his lived experiences of those same stories. He discusses both his own personal mistakes as well as the betrayal of his family for not protecting him and his family.
The book definitely included things that felt a bit unnecessary, but they were bits of stories that were personal and added some color. It felt very much like he was sitting with me telling his story though, so I can’t fault him for those parts.
I’m not usually one to read non-fic or biographies, but this one drew me in and had me in tears.
I fully recommend it, especially if you aren’t already a “fan” of his, so you can hear his story and about his life from him.
