5.0

Updated review, Dec 28, 2021:
Solid 5 stars, can absolutely count this as one of my favorite books.  I've now read 3 times and am sure I will reread again in the future.

4.5 stars, rounded up because I would read it again and am sitting here frustrated that I have to wait for the sequel now!

The story was enthralling and very original. I think it was a great first novel. My only criticism is that, especially in the beginning of the book, there was an excessive amount of caps lock and Sentences. Like. This.  It felt very juvenile for what I thought wasn't going to be a YA book. Luckily that tapered off as the book went on.
