Merrick is a strong female character, and there are vampires!

I really enjoyed Merrick because Merrick Mayfair is a bit of a badass. I thought she was a well defined character that avoided some of the archetypes that a few of the other Mayfair witches tend to fall into. The plot was actually pretty intriguing (even though the Mayfair storylines have not typically been my favorite). I actually have recommended this book a few times when people have suggested that there are no decent "women of color" in supernatural literature.

Definitely worth the read.
