Meet Me at Midnight by Max Monroe
funny
lighthearted
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Plot
- Strong character development? It's complicated
2.0
I want to thank Hambright Pr and Max Monroe for the arc of this book.
I love a good friends to lovers romance but sadly this one just wasn’t my favorite.
I loved the found family aspect of this book that relationship Juniper had with Beau’s family was so wholesome and sweet and I loved every minute we got to spend with them.
I appreciate this book having that secret identity aspect it wasn’t throughout the whole book and it was discussed at the perfect timing in the book. I enjoyed how both characters handled that and there was no drama. However, I felt their relationship was so fast it gave me some whiplash. While I know they were friends forever and already know each other I would have liked to see more of them getting to know each other on dates vs just chatting in the app or physically. The romance part just felt so quick and I wanted a bit more out of it personally.
Let’s talk about Juniper's best friend Avery who is also Beau’s sister. I don’t know if the intention for her character was to be ditzy/mean-ish girl vibe but that’s what I felt with her. She was very self-centered/absorbed and for being an adult she acted more like a child. I also did not enjoy how she reacted to Juniper and her brother being together and then just poof was over it….I felt she needed to apologize and work to get Junipers friendship back…but again this is just my opinion.
Overall this was a quick read with some humor, romance and of course spice
