I jumped on reading this one since I got approved (and have since started book 3)! I LIKED this one. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it took me a while to get Cassidy and how she acted around Chase AKA Red. She was a little too harsh for me towards him at the beginning. Like he was beneath her, but she had no problem using him when she needed to. However I fully enjoyed her realizing how good of a man Chase was. And how good of a job he did proving her & other people wrong. I liked the sneakiness of this one- there is something about a secret romance. Ultimately though I loved how Chase felt with Cassidy- how proud he was of her. How he had a secret crush on her for a while and then this happy situation fell in his lap. Chase was SUCH a cutie with Cassidy- even when they were just friends. He did SO much for her- brought her gifts, brought her things to make her comfortable, brought her things to make her smile. He was such a sweetie. And watching Cassidy morph into the woman she became was great. She was so strong and independent but realized even though she can do everything by herself it is so much nicer when you have a partner who is willing to help.

Cassidy is over it. She came to the rodeo to have fun. And of course her ex is here with his new lady who he had been cheating on her with. How is this her life. Well she is going to get him back. She decides to go feral and have a one night stand with Red AKA Chase. The man she has known since forever and has no problem sharing the love he has with the ladies in town. It happens and she enjoys it but only for the revenge plot (at least that's what she tells herself). Her and Chase are back to knowing each other across the room until two lines show up a test. And they are tied for life with a baby. How could this have happened? What will everyone think? She doesn't have time to process what Chase thinks before he is at her house to talk about it and ask what she needs. Of course she says nothing. But then he comes over and makes her dinner. He rubs her feet. He starts bringing her things because he wants to not because she asks him to. And Cassidy can't help realize how attracted to him she is. The man is FINE. What if they kept things casual until the baby comes? She can handle that right? Wrong. So wrong. Because now she is envisioning a future with him in it. But she doesn't want someone to be with her because of an obligation. She wants the real deal. And she knows what she feels but what about Chase?

Chase has had a lowkey crush on Cassidy for years. So when she asks him to be involved in a revenge plot of course he says yes. And knowing this is a one time thing- he makes it count. Makes it where she won't forget him. And then she is back to being on the other side of the room. But then he hears something and when he confirms its truth- he finds himself excited. This is his chance to prove Cassidy wrong. He can be the man she needs. The man she deserves. He just has to show her. He has to show her how he can take care of her and her baby. And that he is in this however she will let him be. But he can't help seeing how beautiful she is. She has always been pretty but it's like amplified now. And he has no willpower when she asks for lines to be crossed but puts a timeline on it. He knows one thing and that is she and this baby are his future. He is just waiting for her to catch up and not get too freaked out in the meantime.

I liked the protective side of Chase in this one. I liked how this one really big thing helped him become a changed man. He was already debating a change- this just pushed it along a little faster than he thought. I liked the banter between him and Cassidy. I liked watching their feelings unfurl for each other- it made me smile and fan my face sooo big. I HIGHLY recommend this series if you haven't already started it. I am loving this journey that Bailey is taking us on!
