I flew through this novel and loved every minute of it! It was such a refreshing mix of historical fiction, romance, comedy, and social commentary. The story was both fun and thought-provoking. I completely fell in love with these characters, especially the dog. I want him to have his own sequel. I adore how Garmus hopped around POV’s so lightly and swiftly while still remaining crystal clear. I was also very compelled by one supporting character’s arc. I won’t spoil anything, but I was pleasantly surprised by Frask and her side role. There are moments where things fell into place a bit too easily or got wrapped up too neatly, but I didn’t mind that so much, especially since the text is ever so slightly magical realism. If you want a fun read that isn’t total fluff, pick this up!
