The beginning of the book has almost zero punctuation, and this makes reading very difficult. The only thing that kept me going was the story, which is definitely interesting.
It is like a more mature version of Harry Potter, with all characters of color. Once you get over the missing punctuation it is very enjoyable to read.
I love the different personalities of the characters, how they come together, go on adventures, explore their roots and help each other. World-building is kind of predictable, with the entire magic school setting, but well done nevertheless.
It's a medium paced murder mystery, with a sort of cliffhanger ending.
The second book is on the more expensive side, and if there is just as much missing punctuation I am not sure if I am going to continue the story.
But I did enjoy this book, so I might take a shot at it.
