This book was excellent, and requires little else to say.

Reading about a woman who had to reconcile with the fact that her family and their values no longer aligned with the things she valued was heartbreaking and told with an immense amount of sincerity. I'm quite baffled people have the audacity to dispute the events within the book and Westover's feelings towards her family. Trauma forces people to make wild decisions that from the outside seem incredulous. This memoir was less of a criticism of Mormonism and "doomsday prepers", but more of an exploration of mental health issues, generational trauma, and how we create a sense of self as we grow older.

This book and Westover's writing is exceptional, and I cannot recommend more highly.
