While I ended up falling out of love with the series, Skulduggery Pleasant is a classic at this stage.
I love the setting, not enough Irish authors set their fantasy book in Ireland. The magic is fun to learn about and Valkyrie Cain is a great protagonist. She's not to strong but not helpless.
