Best Kept Secret by Amy Hatvany

This was really good. I had barely read anything about this book and had no idea what to expect. I loved the story and I loved how real of a character Cadence was. I thought the author did a really good job at portraying a complex situation with a lot of emotions where there are no real bad guys - just people trying to do the best for Charlie. I also loved the ending, which was not what I expected. I particularly liked the discussion about mothers and drinking, and how the expectations for Cadence differed so much to if she had been Charlie's father. It was very poignant.

My only real criticism was that the timeline of the book was quite hard to follow, at least for the audiobook version. The flashbacks were sudden and a bit confusing, but this might not be the case for the print version.
