Sin & Sapphire by Poppy Jacobson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
Poppy’s writing style is fantastic, ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for that. Poppy was also clear on the triggers and tropes specifically that this is not a good example of healthy, or real D/s or S/m relationships so that’s not the issue either.  I just didn’t get the brat label. Ana rightly didn’t want to be a mafia wife. She didn’t want to be raped. She didn’t want to be beaten. She didn’t want to be sold off like a used car by men who thought she was “just a warm pussy”. So she’s subjected to 100% non-con “taming” that felt repetitive, and without sensible motivation. Angelo keeps on about how he’s obsessed with her, wants to protect her, she’s precious, yeets a bunch of people that have hurt her… but he’s over there dishing out more psychological abuse than her physical abusers, stealing her power and independence like the rest of them if not more so. Maybe it’s me, maybe I’m the problem.
