Counting the Cost by Jill Duggar
4.0
I’m not sure what compelled me to read this book, but I’m
so glad I did! I never watched the Duggar show on TV, nor have I seen Shiny Happy People. But I was aware of the family and the news headlines regarding the sexual abuse. Jill’s story is carefully and lovingly told. Despite the pain and trauma, she manages to see both halves of the coin. Like Ecclesiastes states, there is a time for every season, and the dichotomies of joy and sorrow are part of the journey. It’s a well-written, balanced book, which is rare for a memoir.
