The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

3.0

This was… interesting. I went into expecting a story rooted in mythology and mystery, but what I got was a woman’s obsession with a presumed killer and stilted writing. The premise was so intriguing, and I’m very disappointed. That’s not to say I hated the book. I read it in a few days and it definitely made me think… there’s just a lot of iffy things. The structure was mediocre, the main character would always prompt other characters to explain something she already knew for our sake, and the ending. Well we won’t talk about that for the sake of spoilers. I just think it was poorly done and a grab for a final shock.

I did enjoy reading it though. The author kept me interested which is good. It was not my favorite but not my least favorite either.
