First and foremost, I’d like to say that Tessa Wegert is a phenomenal writer.  She has that Agatha Christie feel to her writing style.  I couldn’t put this one down, to the point where I was staying up late.  The story was such a rush!  Death in the Family has a very strong female lead, who is not only trying to solve the present case, but also a past case and dealing major personal issues.  Tessa does a very good job at making almost all of the characters look guilty.  There are so many twists and turns, that the ending is not obvious or apparent.  I was certainly shocked when the mystery was revealed.  I love that I read The Dead Season before this one because this felt like a flash back, and now I’m filling in the pieces of Shana’s history, like building a puzzle.  While these are part of a series, they can be read out of order.  This book has all the great aspects of an excellent thriller.  I loved it!

So, if you’re looking for a locked-room thriller with Agatha Christie vibes, pick this one up!
