The Familiars by Stacey Halls

5.0

This book made me feel a lot of things. A lot.

I picked it up after seeing it advertised on the tube and it's the first time an advertised product has won me over so thoroughly and completely. It's emotional, engaging, passionate and at points I wanted to strangle half of the characters. The backdrop of the Pendle witch trials heighten every ounce of tension and Fleetwood's drive and passion make her all the more identifiable - I wanted her to be okay. I had to put it down at times because it was too emotional. The Familiars was one of the first fiction books I read this year and I'm pretty sure it sparked my love of reading into a high gear. I'm eagerly looking forward to Halls next book being available at my library!

It also has an extremely good dog!
