I LOVED this book!
It was well written and it showed a side of young people dealing with cancer that we rarely see: the aftermath. A lot of books and movies about cancer center on the life of people battling it, but they rarely go on to show us the lives of those fortunate enough to win against it.
I like that Alice is a flawed character with a good heart. She wants to live without consequences because she knows she's going to die, but she has to face her acts once she gets healthier. She was such a believable teenage character, trying to navigate through her post-sickness messy life while juggling with school and family secrets.
The way this novel was written, mixing cancer moments with remission ones, made it easier to understand her relationship with Harvey.
I felt close to Alice, partially because I see a bit of myself in her. I wanted to be there for her, but I also learned things about myself from the way she managed to deal with everything.
This is the kind of YA books I wanna read more of. And the end, while it left me hanging a little, made it that much more if a gem.
