This was such an important read and had so many important themes and messages. Some of it felt dated as it was published in 2017 which was 8 years ago now (??!!!) so it's understandable and it didn't take away from the book and it's impact (and they also related to things I was interested in in 2017 anyway). Even though I feel like I'm aging out of YA contemporary in general, I thought this was very well done and should be a read for everyone, as it is still so important and relevant today. There were a couple moments that felt a bit young for me, but I'm not in the target audience so that's okay and I've rated it 5 stars still, as that's what I would've done if I'd had read this when it came out and I was closer to the target audience.
