Wonderland by Rachel Ember
5.0
Honestly, I cried, multiple times. First love, a scared kid, and heartbreak pulled these two apart for 8 years.
They had such a special friendship and relationship when they were young. Inseparable every summer. Roaming free amongst the abandoned rides of Riley’s grandfather's closed Park. It was magical. But one night changed everything.
Neither have really forgotten, or have fully moved on, but didn’t really realize how much it held them back until they both found themselves back in Burlington, Vermont. They are drawn to one another, but fear and past hurt continue to play a part in keeping them from being able to move forward. Thankfully a treasure hunt gives them the opportunity to reconnect and work through those feelings.
Rachel writes such a beautiful story. I’ve only read a few of her novels, and I entirely regret not reading more of them. I’m especially glad she was a part of this adventure back into the world of In Vino Veritas.
