So far I've read three of the short stories from this anthology, written from three of my favorite authors, and so far it's been... amazing!
- The first one is "Sweet Wicked Thing" by [a:Jessie Walker|835380|Jessie Walker|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png], and I must say I'm in shock. I mean, I'm a fan of her books and I know she can write deep, heartbreaking stories, but this DARK? WOW.
To say that I am fascinated with Aston is an understatement. He's so incredibly smart, and so incredibly broken and twisted, and he knows it. He knows himself and knows what he is capable of. He knows that everyone around him thinks he's trash but he laughs at them.
And then, we have Vale. The complete... opposite? He certainly looks like the golden boy. Money, popular, jock, a boyfriend. He seems to have it all. Outside. Inside, he's as broken as Aston, and as he seems to discover, almost as twisted.
Six years ago, after a night that neither of them could forget and that made them what they are today, they were separated, but today, they meet again and Aston is willing to do anything for Vale to be his...
And I can't wait to read the rest of the story!
-The second one is Hateful Love by [a:T. Ashleigh|22182505|T. Ashleigh|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1661993503p2/22182505.jpg]. This is an almost typical story where opposites attract.
Two boys, from very different social circles, end up finding something in common: Attraction . But things are not so simple. The hatred they feel for each other is powerful and clouds everything, not to mention that while the story so far isn't really, really "dark" it does touch on themes that can be.
Blaine is rich, his dad is the Mayor. Silas is not. His father is in prison. Blaine dreams of leaving his life behind. Silas is tied to his life. How the hot clash between the two of them will end up affecting what they believed to be their own paths?
Another story that I cannot wait to read whole!
-And the third one is WET by [a:Riley Nash|21972383|Riley Nash|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1635891859p2/21972383.jpg]. I don't know if I would qualify this story as "dark", but I must say that it is deep and overflows with anguish. It touches on difficult topics like internalized biphobia, depression, or some kinky topics such as praise/humiliation, etc., etc.
As always, this author manages to get us into a story with deep feelings, where each of the MCs must face obstacles that leave them with wounds that eventually heal but inevitably leave indelible marks.
To say that I look forward to seeing how the relationship between Darius and Tate continues is unnecessary. I need it! And oh Victor! He makes a cameo and let me tell you, luckily, he's still the same Victor as always.
I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
