Since becoming vegetarian and later vegan, I´ve also become quite the nutrition nerd. It´s something I find really fascinating and I´ve relied on science to forget the myths we are brainwashed to believe in (concerning meat, milk and eggs). NutritionFacts is one the places where I had gathered my information, so I knew I would want to read the founder´s, Michael Greger´s, book at some point. The time was now, and the book is fantastic. Based on hundreds of scientific studies it´s hard to argue against the main conclusion of How Not to Die, that a whole-food, plant-based diet can do wonders in preventing and even healing our leading killers. It´s not hard to believe - since eliminating all animal products I have felt so much better, physically and mentally. Still, I have much to improve, and now with Greger´s tips I know how to make those improvements. In Finland, there´s been an explosion of processed vegan foods, which is amazing of course as it means the diet is becoming more popular and accessible, but I need to cut down the amount of processed foods I´m consuming. That´s just one of the things I got from this book, I have underlined so much and marked pages I´ll come back to. This is really a nutritional bible, one that will shift your ideas of what is truly healthy. The best part is,that the diet that is best for you, is also the best for the environment and other species.
