The Novel, Who Needs It? by Joseph Epstein

informative reflective fast-paced

3.0

Some of his views are pretentious, but he does have some good points about the need to critique the media we are consuming. The practice of reading and analysing a novel is an important part of any education, and this practice helps the reader reflect on their own ideas concerning morality, existence, and humanity. Personally, I think his book recommendations are lacking, but I will be adding some of the Russian recs to my own list.
