Waistcoats & Weaponry by Gail Carriger
5.0
You know what? I'm going to go ahead and rate this five stars. I really hesitate to give out a five star rating and I'm not sure why ... but I absolutely enjoyed this. I'd read the first two books a while back and just came back to the series. I was able to slip right back into this world. I listened to the audiobook and I have to say the narrator does a fabulous job.
There were moments I was laughing out loud, other times I wish I had the written/digital text to mark notes ... and there at the end, some serious/sad moments.
While this does leave it open ended enough for another sequel, this wrapped up this portion of the story and doesn't leave the reader on a cliffhanger. I don't feel compelled to continue immediately to find out what happens, but of course I'll come back to finish up this series.
...oh, and at the end, some music came on (as it does with some audio editions, there at the beginning and end) ... this little tune was SO catchy I was bouncing around and wondered if I could perhaps Shazam it, when suddenly I realized it was talking about THIS BOOK. A silly song created just for this series, mentioning the characters and situations. Totally made me laugh. If you are listening to the audiobook, do not turn it off too quickly! It's like staying through the credits for a reveal in a movie ;)
