This has been my favourite of the series, It was the saddest, funniest, and sappiest of them all, and I loved every minute of it. It was a struggle to put it down at bedtime.

Jackson and Simon became best friends the moment they both started working for the Portland Pirates. They each felt like the other just had something special. But when Simon is there for Jackson when he finds himself the guardian of his best friend's young son, things start to shift.

You can absolutely feel the friendship and love between these two. Their playfulness and care for each other are remarkably sweet and unwavering. And even though the situation is horrible and sad, they are wonderful together. Through every up and down they held on strong. And young Parker is delightful and a joy.

Through it all, as they navigate death, parenting, new love, and some really crappy grandparents, these two get sappier and sappier. It was pretty great.

There are also so many great cameos from the rest of the gang! Now let’s see if the rest of these footballers can find their way to love.

4.5 stars.
