There are novels and then there are novels that you stay up until 2am to finish because you know that the minute you put it down you may not have the willpower to pick it back up because it is so terribly brutal and heartbreaking and depressing, but also so beautiful and honest. This novel is the latter

I want to give this full five stars and tell everyone to read it, but I also cannot give that recommendation without noting that while the writing/narrative is incredible and worth the effort, this book is very, very, very hard to read and completely devastating. An excellent start to a new year of reading.
