And Then You by Briar Prescott

5.0

This book was really good, dare I say I liked it better than the first (which I liked a great deal)? Started off strong with the heartbreak, so thanks for that Briar!

Steph is surrounded by a hollow shell surrounded by an impenetrable fort, and he has various masks and personas he can don at will to keep everyone at arm length. Quinn is similar in that he is aloof but this is due to a different reason from Steph. A chance encounter puts Quinn on Steph’s bad side and when they are formally introduced years later their trademark witty banter ensues.

After a night of heavy drinking at a wedding Steph finds himself at Quinn’s house sleeping it off, only to wake up with Quinn’s parents there in the morning assuming they are dating. There begins their fake dating week in Maine which leaves Quinn curious and Steph running.

I really liked how this played out compared to Until You, because it could have been so much more angsty but Quinn is patient, calm, and knows what he wants and he definitely runs faster than Steph. Steph has a lot of big feelings and is not used to letting anyone in, and has been let down by his family and suffered immense tragedy. He really needed someone to show up for him and prove to him they cared and weren’t going to leave. They are perfect for each other.

I received an advanced copy from GRR in exchange for my honest review.
