This book was alright. The writing style is beautiful, but a bit verbose at times. I found the concept and the payoff quite good, but lacking in how it was executed. I felt the characters were interesting, but not developed enough for me to truly care about them. Parts were very slow for me, but not slow enough that I gave up entirely on the book. I almost wish it had been a series to better develop the world and characters, but parts were also not compelling enough as is so perhaps that would not have worked either. Some interesting ideas and compelling characters, but poor enough execution that I don’t think I would recommend. 2.5-3 stars for me
